My poor little man!! Haircuts are tough. :(
08-28-2007To a grown-up, a haircut is nothing more than a 30 minute appointmant with your stylist. But to a 13 month old, it is quite possibly one of the most traumatic experiences they can expierence. At least that is what Eric and I learned when the time finally came to get Riley's hair cut for the first time. Our across the street neighbor (Jim Davenport) just happens to be a hair stylist, and he came over one evening to give me (Ali) a much needed hair cut and I asked if he would mind trimming Riley's also. Well, let's just say that I'm the only one that had an enjoyable experience. As many moms know, at this age, you are dealing with stranger anxiety. Couple that with the fact that a strange person is trying to cut your hair with very sharp shiny scissors, a 13 month old could not possible understand that!! Riley screamed and cried through the whole hair cut. I felt so bad for him!
If anyone has any advice for making haircut time a little less traumatic, I'm open for suggestions.

Ok, so we need to see a picture of the finished product! Does Riley look like a little man now?? Here, they have a salon specifically for young kids with airplane and car chairs for them to sit in. Maybe they have something like that in Marietta!

Well, I cut J's hair myself for a long while. He sat very nicely for me. It would be a good idea for Riley to get to know your neighbor, too, so next time he won't be such a stranger. That's all from Aunt K.
