Yesterday, Riley and I did a Halloween craft and painted mini pumpkins. Last weekend we went to Wal-Mart to buy all of the supplies... brushes, trays, paint (only in primary colors so we could have a lesson on mixing colors), etc. Riley had been looking forward to this all week long.Riley did extremely well, mixing yellow and blue to make green, red and blue to make purple.. you get the idea. Then he decided that he wanted to make his pumpkin rainbow colored and stated to mix all of the colors together and he created, well, an icky brown mess. He had fun doing it though.
Here is my finished pumpkin with Riley's 2 in the background. Who knows, maybe I'll start painting again... now that I have the acrylics.

Now that was a great idea--pumpkin painting! I know Riley had a wonderful time doing that. Did you carve any pumpkins as well? He could help make pumpkin pie! I know Riley loved mixing colors. He looks like the "expert" painter. Who knows? One day, he may use this talent in his chosen career. Love, Aunt Kathy
By the way, the Lightning Thief series is very good. It flies off my shelf at school. If you want a real thrilling series, seek out The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins. It takes place in the future and is quite a page-turner. Riley's books are interesting as well. Still, don't forget about Harold and the Purple Crayon when choosing fiction for him. It was one of my favorites. Love, Aunt Kathy
